Possets Day 5 ~ Death (The Pardoner's Tale)

I am officially halfway through my Possets samples as of today! I was thinking about doubling or tripling up on theses reviews since one per day is pretty tedious, but I fell in love with Death (heh) and I thought it deserved its own post without having to share with any other scents.

As always, here's the scent description from Possets:

The Pardoner tells a tale of how 3 men end up killing each other over treasure in an ironic story.

Suave, sophisticated and as final as Death. A dark vetevyr as you have never smelled it before, mixes with smooth thyme and a good jolt of black amber. A faraway touch of incense and a tiny amount of pure smoke. A beautiful offering of the perfumers' art, would be at home on the Champs Elysees in Paris circa 1955.

A Pardoner was a man who was an itinerant preacher and who was allowed by The Church to sell indulgences so that the faithful could get to heaven more easily without a nasty detour through Purgatory.

Cold sniff: Vetiver!

Initial Application/Wet on skin: There is still a very strong vetiver note. It's so beautiful though. Dark, but not too heavy. Additionally, it is grounded by an herbal/grassy smell that I absolutely adore.

Drydown: Death turns into a beautiful combination of smoke and amber. I can also detect the thyme, which makes it so much more interesting and complex. It also has an incensey vibe that I love. Not a teenage room full of incense clouds-type-of-smell, more of a classic and pretty type of incense. Definitely the kind of incense the Pardoner would be selling.

Final Thoughts: This is by far my very favorite scent I've tried from Possets thus far (except Gypsy Grave, I love that one just as much!) I love everything from the title, to the picture, and (of course) the scent itself. It's right up my ally, and I'm so glad I ordered a sample. It will definitely be on my full size list when I get around to being able to make my next Possets purchase. I love that Death isn't too heavy, as it may seem to be from the scent description. I wore it to work today, and it was not too strong or too subtle. It was absolutely perfect.

  1. You are so diciplined! I never quite manage one scent a day when I have new samples, I just get too distracted! Either I try them on all at once (very efficient... not!) or I plain forget that they exist!

This one sounds awesome! I do believe that I love vetiver, I am a fan of herbal and smoky scents and amber is always awesome!

    1. Aww, that's nice of you to say. I am kind of going crazy with only sampling one per day though, haha. I will probably end up bunching a few together for the next couple of days ;D

I definitely thought this would be one you'd enjoy! It is really, really beautiful, and I do think you'd quite enjoy it! :)

  2. I love the sound of this - I'm sure I have it somewhere too, in amongst my pile of samples. I must have a look and see.

Re: the discussion above I often test one in the morning and then another one in the evening. Or sometimes if I just feel like wearing whatever I want to wear I'll do that during the day and then do my daily tester one at night.

    1. Oh awesome! Let me know what you think of it if you do find it! It seems like a lot of people that tried it on the Possets forum enjoyed it as well :)

That's such a good idea to sample two perfumes per day- morning and evening. Liber Vix was saying she brings perfume in her purse and changes her perfume when the first wears off according to what she feels like wearing. I thought that was a cool idea too. You ladies are so smart and lovely <3
