I have an insane amount of perfumes to review, but today I'm going to review Ploughman by Haus of Gloi. They recently released their Spring products, but I did not buy anything initially. Then I read Liber Vix's Haus of Gloi Spring haul here, and she inspired me to purchase a lovely Spring perfume from them- Ploughman! I also got a whipped soap in the same scent.
Haus of Gloi describes Ploughman as:
Well worn leather, dirt n' dandelions, carrot, a pinch of tobacco and a light sheen of feral skin musk.
Cold Sniff: The dandelion note is very strong upon cold sniff. It's quite glorious, though I am a huge dandelion fan.
Initial Application/Wet on Skin: The earthiness/dirt note pops out, though it blends so seamlessly with the Dandelion note that it's just absolutely magical. I never noticed this from my Ploughman imp, but the carrot note peeks out here too.
Drydown: The drydown for me is every note from the scent description dancing together beautifully. Eventually this perfume ends right where it started- with the green dandelion note. This is truly a unique and wonderful spring scent.
Final Thoughts: Liber Vix told me that this scent kind of reminded her of a hobbit, and I thought that is a perfect description for Ploughman! Working hard in the field all day to plow vegetables, dandelions dancing in the light breeze, riding ponies with leather saddles, and having a delightful puff of pipe weed after a hard day's work. The Shire would most definitely smell like this perfume. I'm happy to finally be the proud owner of a full size.

Congratulations on the anniversary! And on the new dog (if she stays)! I'd love to see some pictures of her! My family has always had dogs, still do, but they are at home in Finland and I am here in Sweden... I miss them soo much, I'm in serious withdrawal here!! I drool over pictures of our dogs that mu mum posts on her facebook, I see dogs everywhere and I talk about dogs all the time!!
ReplyDeletePloughman sounds interesting, but I must confess that I have no idea what to expect from it. I can't quite imagine what a dandelion note smells like...
I have a TEENY bit left in my imp, so I will send it to you in your care package! :D
DeleteI've never been a "dog person" until I realized how silly that sounds. I've just had cats all my life, but I just love animals in general. :) How many dogs does your family have? I bet those doggies miss you lots too! ❤❤
That would be awesome! Even a teeny tiny drop would probably be enough for me to deside if this is my thing or not!
DeleteMy mother has had sled dogs for as long as I can remember and we still have four left of those. One Siberian Husky, two Alaskan Huskies and one Siberian/Greenland Dog mix. They all live mostly outside in the dog yard though, so they aren't really house pets... But nowadays we have three little lap dogs too! Two Jack Russel Terriers and one Miniature Pinscher. They are my little darlings!
Okay, I will definitely add it for you then, my dear!
DeleteI know this is silly, but I've always wanted either a husky or malamute ever since I saw 8 Below. They are such BEAUTIFUL dogs!!! But I'd never get one because this desert is not suited for such a magestic animal. Do you have pictures of your doggies (the lap dogs too)? I'd love to see those darlings!
Congrats on your blogiversary! I totally forgot my two year one was March 5th! And that is so generous and kind of you to be thinking of keeping Cheyenne. I imagine it would be hard to give her back to someone that doesn't really want her.
ReplyDeleteSorry you've had a rough week, and I hope your weekend is recuperative. The email thing has been so hit-or-miss it seems, I wrote you back on Monday but I was worried it didn't get through again. Let me know :)
Ah yes, I have raved a bit about Ploughman, I actually wore it today! I don't smell dandelion in it (at least I don't think I do) but I swear it just smells like skin that is warmed by sunshine and hands that have been digging in cool wet soil, and maybe a touch of carrot. Nadja, it's not a dark scent at all, but it is just brilliantly earthy. It is SO worth a try, just to say you did!
Thank you love! And I apologize for not replying, I did get your reply! I can be quite a bad replier at times! I'm so very sorry! But I will write you back when I get a chance today :D
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the kind words!
Congratulations on the 1 year anniversary of blogging!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! That means a lot to me! ❤❤❤
DeletePloughman is so good! It really does smell like the Shire, now that it's been mentioned. Such a wonderful, unusual spring scent. Happy blog-iversary!
ReplyDeleteYes, it really is so good! I love Ploughman! And thank you so much, that's very sweet of you!
DeleteCongratulations Rachel!
ReplyDeleteI love these magical coincidences that life sometimes brings like the name of the dog is the same with the name of your boyfriend's home city. I haven't heard that name before. It's a very beautiful name! It was so kind of you that you rescued her:)
I would love to see some pictures of her!
I had Ploughman in a scrub and I loved it but I don't think I would wear it as a perfume. I wish they would offer their new scents in their bubbly scrub format and not only in perfume and pumpkin butter...
Thank you Amanda!
DeleteIt has been a bit stressful, but I think it was "fate," especially because of her name! I hope she is happy living with us. I want her to be happy and loved. She deserves it. I am about to take her for a walk, so I'll try to get some good pictures! How is your dog? :)
That's understandable about not wanting Ploughman in the perfume format. I didn't know HoG hasn't been offering the bubbling scrubs for the new scents. Bubbling Scrubs are my favorite! I wonder why they're not offering them :(
Congrats on the anniversary! How exciting :) Cheyenne is such a cute name!
ReplyDeletePloughman sounds absolutely amazing! I will give it a try :)
Thank you so much, Su!
DeleteI like the name Chyenne too, though we've been calling her Chy Chy for short ;)
I'd love to know what you think of Ploughman when you try it, hun! ❤
